The optical microscope, often referred to as the “light microscope”, is a type of microscope which uses visible light and a system of lenses to magnify images of small samples. New designs of digital microscopes now use advanced CCD and optics to enable wide range zooming with auto-focusing. Multiple images of the same specimen can also be displayed simultaneously with varying zoom scale.
